Jennifer Woda, MT Certification I and Certification II holds a BA in Music from Rutgers University and an MM in Vocal Performance from the University of Akron. She has taught music to children of all ages from birth to high school seniors, including three years as a vocal and general music teacher at Perkins Middle School in Akron, Ohio. Jennifer loves teaching Music Together® because there are so many “Aha! Moments” that happen for both the children and their parents in every class. She also loves that Music Together affords her the opportunity to do the two things which bring her the most joy: singing and teaching children.
As a professional opera singer, Jennifer has sung extensively in the Northeast Ohio area, including solo work with Cleveland Opera on Tour, Lyric Opera Cleveland Educational Outreach, Opera Circle, Kent State University Orchestra, Canton Comic Opera Company, Church of the Savior, Opera per Tutti, and The Medina Community Band. She has also performed with Cleveland Opera/Opera Cleveland as a member of the chorus in fourteen productions. Some of her favorites include Carmen, Turandot and Sweeney Todd. Ms Woda’s musical theater experience includes productions with Cain Park, Medina Showbiz Company, Lakeland Community College and Kalliope Stage. Her favorite musical theater role is The Baker’s Wife from Into the Woods.
Jennifer grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. She returned to Cleveland Heights after college, and lives there now with her husband, Brian Thornton, a cellist with the Cleveland Orchestra, their two daughters: Maya, a sixth grader at Monticello Middle School and Madelyn, a first grader at Noble elementary.
